Speaking of which, Wiley's birthday is coming up. I think about him and Scott often. I know I wasn't very close to them, but they are examples to me of what happens when a person looks to quell feelings of hurt or anxiety or desire (which are symptoms with external origins) with drugs. It still upsets me that they are gone. Not because I think Scott or Wiley and I would have forged a relationship beyond what we had, but that the world and their circumstances got the better of them. Despite the difficulties they both were going through, they were bright people with friends and potential and those things are all any one can ask for.
I also think that this is how addictions begin: drugs as a curative for symptoms overtime become habitual and become a way of manifesting and maintaining a New Normal. You have to create a normal for yourself that is what you want it to be. Though I am generally opposed to replacement therapy (a lot of times in twelve-step programs, they want you to trade in your addiction to a substance or behavior for a NEW behavior. Often times, it is religion.), I think drinking coffee could help. Try it with lots of cream and a little sweetner at first. This will help you kick the soda, too.
If you're clean, you might consider going to a temp agency. They're pretty good at finding you work. For example, at Express Personnel I was able to work every Saturday (and some weeknights) February through May doing catering. It was easy and I made like $9.00/hr. Often times events would last between 6 and 9 hours long. But the holidays are coming up and it's a big time for catering, so you might check that out if you are interested. I'm sure they have other jobs available as well. I worked through them and I got that computer job downtown through Manpower. Both places, as well as Landrum post jobs online. Hell, I currently work through Riverside Personnel Services, a temp agency. Check them out if you want a better paying job with potential benefits. If you act serious about it, they'll help you with building a better resume and being proficient with Outlook, Excel and Word.
But, yes, above all have a good and self-productive time. I love you too, Joe.
