In the Transformers series Beast Wars, one of the Predacons' stolen "Golden Disks" was in fact the Voyager Record. This disk was prized by the Transformer race, as it alone told the location of Earth and thus a plentiful source of Energon. The disk also contained a secret message from the original Megatron. Realizing his own ultimate defeat was near and learning about Cybertron's transwarp experiments, he inscribed the disk with a specific order to any remaining Decepticons to use the Disk and the emerging transwarp technology to travel back in time. Changing history would be the only way that Decepticons would win the Great War instead of the Autobots. The other disc was an alien artifact. This was spelled out later in the series, although a close examination of the discs in earlier episodes made it clear as well. Megatron used the disk in an effort to wipe out humanity, so as to change the future so the Predacons would rule Cybertron. Fortunately, this attack was thwarted by Dinobot, who also destroyed the disk, making it impossible for Megatron to further corrupt the timeline in that manner.
