Happy Independence Day to all my US f-listers! Seems like all I've done lately is moan (and not in a good way) so I thought I'd post only happy things today. :P As per usual, I ate tons of food on the 4th. We roasted marshmallows, lit off sparklers, and went to watch the local community fireworks. Ahhhhhh, summer, how I love thee. Except this week of course...only one small bitch; it is unbelieveably HOT and I burned my cheeks in the sun. *cough* The cheeks on my face, you dirty-minded peeps! ;-) Anyway, summer is in full bloom here. I marveled at the fact that exactly on the day of the summer solstice, the cicadas started singing, and that night was the first I saw any fireflies. Mother Nature knows all. *nods* I really enjoy summer and fall, much more so than spring and winter. There are not many things more relaxing than listening to the lazy call of the cicadas on a hot afternoon, at least for me. The kids and I have been to the Zoo last week and are going to the pool regularly. I am still able to wear my bikini without feeling completely embarassed about the shape I'm in, for now at least. :D My son is very much happier now he is not struggling through sitting in class and to do homework. Our doctor has written me an order for occupational therapy so I am working on getting him in to the clinic to see our pediatric OT for some help for him.
I am feeling a little more positive after the horrible time I had at work last week...World Cup has been cheering me up. The US team actually made it out of the first round! Whee! Since they're out I am rooting for Germany (me being mostly German with a little Irish thrown in), and Spain because Fernando Torres is one of the most adorable men walking! Rawr! Stinks that they drew each other for the semi so I can't have them both in the final, but hey. Also went to see Twilight: Eclipse and I liked it. I'll spare you all any Twilight analysis, LOL, since what I really wanted to mention was that two of the trailers before the film got me all frothy and happy! The first one being the
Harry Potter trailer *click*, of course, which made me squee uncontrollably. I am SO looking forward to the final two films. At the same time I dread them, because then there will be no more, LOL. The second trailer was for a movie called
Red *click*, which I'd never heard of prior to this. It's apparently about ex spies, and while the sight of Helen Mirren holding an assault rifle did make me smile, what really caught my attention was a brief sighting of Karl Urban, hotcakes come to life. In case any of you can't remember what he looks like, here's a piccie.
Well hello baby...would you mind if I ate you for dinner?
*cough* So anyway, Red comes out in October. Should make for an interesting fall, since Harry Potter comes out in November! At any rate, that's what's going on here. Oh! And I finally watched District 9 over the weekend. Good movie...little disgusting in parts. PJ loves his gore, doesn't he? Love to my f-list.
