Well, tonight I went to see Sherlock Holmes, and
J and I and
expectprism and her Edna found it to be a really enjoyable movie. Both EP and J are old Holmes fans from way back, and they found it true to their memories of the books. Also, we all really appreciated their attention to historical details - the set designers and creators of CGI Victorian London obviously researched like whoa - it all looked great. And J was of course pleased they got the guns right - Holmes and Watson's Webleys and the Howdah pistol wielded by the evil Lord Coward. But J was also pleased for a different reason, which makes me VERY HAPPY, because he told me he realized tonight that he is a complete and total convert to the slash.
Yeah, that's right. Not just tolerating it, he was actually "stomping his little feet" (HIS WORDS) at all the slashy bits, and says that his slash goggles are now permanently attached. That basically where he'd always been a fan of romantic comedies anyway, it no longer mattered to him if the two were a man and a woman, two men, or two women; he would have been perfectly happy for the movie tonight to have ended with Holmes and Watson going off together, because they were perfect for one another, and always have been.
Excuse me for a moment:
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. \o/
OH YES AND THE MOVIE ALMOST MADE ME HYPERVENTILATE WITH HOW SLASHY IT WAS. BUT THIS IS EVEN BETTER.
