Write some older, crotchety retired boys, some horny boys of any age, our boys moving in together, our boys getting hitched, our boys with Teyla's baby, our boys with ( Read more... )

Home, for both of them, has always been a “concept” thing, rather than anything they’d known firsthand. Not John, rattling from oversize house to oversize cottage to oversize apartment, hot and cold running servants and a father who ran mostly to cold. Not Rodney, whose parents never quite knew that they were parents, who never quite got the grasp of routine and order and affection ( ... )

Oh, hon. Oh. You write them as perfectly them, and yet it's lyrical and beautiful at the same time. Just gorgeous. Thank you. *hugs*

What a beautiful gathering together of neglect and hurt and weaving it into a love that binds them so completely. <3

Rodney learned to cook as an act of survival, because he has Jeannie to watch out for. When she finally set her own path, so different from what he’d hoped for her, and so close to what he’d longed for as a child? Taught him that those you love will leave you behind.

Such a perfect description of Rodney and Jeannie.

And the line about how John is still prone to being glib and hiding and Rodney hides behind bluster is spot on, as well.

The almost casual way they share pieces of themselves is lovely.
