Yeah. So that happened.
*waves* So a couple of things: I've been sucked into the vortex of tumblr. Sadly, I seem to have only so much energy for flitting around various social media sites, so when I got sucked into twitter, my lj posting went down, and when I got sucked into tumblr, my twitter game suffered. I still don't love tumblr - there's a lot of noise and there's very little discussion - but other things I do like, particularly the social justice posts. I'm learning a lot about perspectives I didn't see on LJ, even more so than on twitter.
Secondly, I seem to have gotten hooked on Top Gear. /o\
I KNOW. It's a completely fucking goofy show, and Clarkson as an individual is odious and the other two aren't much better - but when they're together and doing their schtick, I just laugh and laugh and laugh. I bought a pile of DVDs for J for his birthday because he'd fallen in love with them when we went on our last UK trip in the fall watching reruns on Dave, and within a week I was as fangirly about them as he was.
And finally, erm, I seem to have also gotten hooked on the idea of Jeremy Clarkson/James May RPS.
/o\ I KNOW. I KNOW. I KNOW. I think my breaking point was last Sunday's ep, where Jeremy donned his reading glasses to look at a health and safety warning, and then James took the glasses from him and put them on to read, and then Jeremy, smiling like James was adorable, took the glasses off him. They're such an old married couple it's ridiculous. I might do a ship manifesto for myself one of these days not so much to pimp the pairing, but to prove to myself that I'm not making this up. It would include lots of stuff like this, and this, and this.
Anyway, there is now fic based on that spoilerly bit of business. Both places are locked down, so you either have to be a member of topgearslash on LJ, or have an account on AO3. There is no WAY this stuff is seeing the light of day when the two of them are constantly on Twitter:
