Lewis 704

Let me just state up front that if you have issues with the Robbie/Laura in this ep, or are just here to tell me how much you think the ep sucked donkey balls, I would appreciate if if you could do so instead in your own space. I'm a Lewis/Hathaway fan in fanon, but I'm not interested in pissing on one pairing at the expense of another, and I'm perfectly fine with working with what we've been given no matter which way I ship. So please, leave any of that negative energy at the door; believe me when I say I have enough of that in RL at the moment and will have no problem with shutting it down. Thanks! :)

This was a lovely little moment.

Robbie learns about electronic cigarettes. These kids today, geez. He was just getting the hang of those smart phones.

Nice that they had Gray uncover some important info and that Robbie gave him credit for it.

Robbie bares his teeth at Bad Guy. UNF.

WHO'S ACTION MAN NOW?

Robbie: What's the time difference there?
James: About a century.
DYING.

Nobody does long-suffering like James Hathaway.

Robbie manages to persuade James to leave his very important work.

Which James is really enjoying. Shame, that.

His lad is coming back to him! LOOK AT HIS HAPPY FAAAAAACE.

Nice little reflection on the scene outside the funeral home, where Robbie's reaction turns out to be exactly what Kev got across with absolutely no dialogue.

"I hate you, Robert Lewis." Ahahahaha, omg.

I had jeans like that once. Then I turned seventeen and wondered what the fuck I'd been thinking.

James' reaction to Robbie trying to save him from future lung cancer was so very - James. Though I understand his confusion - Lewis isn't usually so - paternal with him. It was interesting the way he talked to him there, like he was trying to convince one of his kids to try something he knew they would rebel against.

Robbie: Want to go for a ride after work?
Laura: o.O
Robbie: OMG NO I DIDN'T -
Laura: I'm not saying no, you pillock.

Okay, they're adorable.

I really liked the way Lewis redeemed the father for the young fellow here. He needed to hear that.

"You did okay." Aw, love their little exchange here, with the subtle message to Robbie from Gray about what kind of copper he plans to be.

And eeee, I loved that bit where Gray's past history with Robbie is revealed! It's so cool that Robbie is inspiring the next generation of coppers - again, it's a play on that theme of mortality; Lewis' legacy will go on even when he retires.

I have the full set of angsty Hathaway reactions here if you want to wallow in it until your fingers get all pruney, but you can have the happy here.

WELL OKAY, JUST ONE ANGSTY CAP. This is James looking at Laura. OUCH, sweetie.

How much do I love that a) Laura is wearing her hot black jacket; b) Laura completely fucking jumps him; and c) Robbie has that gobsmacked look of an older man who was beginning to wonder if he'd ever have sex again, and is now realizing he's going to have spectacular sex. Or perhaps he already has and still can't quite believe it.

Innocent's reaction: FUCKING PRICELESS.

THEY ARE SO RIDICULOUSLY CUTE.

God, I love seeing Robbie happy.

And my goodness, Clare Holman is so wee! I want to squish her! :)

In short, no matter which way you slice it, this ep gives us a lot to work with. I'm looking forward to ALL THE FIC, people. :)
