Well, damn.
Donald "Duck" Dunn is gone.
He was my favourite bassist, an inspiration and a revelation when I took up the instrument more than 25 years ago. When I was sixteen, I could think of no musician it would be more cool to be. And you know what? I still think that.
For those who don't know him or Booker T and the MGs, this is probably his best-known work, as one of the musicians in The Blues Brothers:
