Errant Bigots on Bicycles

Saturday night Cheryl and I went to go see the Barenaked Ladies play at the JLC. Even though Steven Page is no longer in the band, they still put on an awesome show and are just as much fun as ever. :) They played lots of old stuff as well as some of the new, and Cheryl and I were having a blast singing along. Seats weren't quite as comfy as say the ACC, but we still had a great view (front row of our section) and the popcorn was edible. :P Joel Plaskett opened, and it was especially good for him because just before going on stage he'd found out he'd won a Juno! :)

Sunday was off to a bit of disconcerting start - we were walking to Archie's, holding hands, when this old guy on a bike calls us 'pussy lickers' as he passes us. I was tempted to respond but held back anyway. We just continued on our way down the street, minding our own business. This dude circled around the block and followed us! He was calling something out to us but we couldn't hear him over the traffic and fortunately the light changed so we could cross the street. This guy made me kind of nervous, although I'm not sure what else he would've done (if anything). It's just that this comes on the heels of one of Cheryl's friends being heckled by some people in a car while she was walking down the street with her girlfriend - to the point where the guys in the car threw a beer bottle at them when they said they had called the police. Not exactly the same situation here, but it's the kind of thing that sticks in the back of your mind. It could have happened to us.

Anyway, Sunday improved... I got some new shoes and some toys for Henry since he just destroyed another of his rope toys!

Working a bit later than usual today - I inadvertantly offered to work a later shift tonight, thinking that Cheryl left for the Galapagos THIS morning and not Tuesday morning. Oops. :P That being said, I need a shower... see ya. :P
