hey! It's been a while. After a few papers and intense periods of sitting on the u-bahn drawing people i finished my classes and set off for poland with my parents. We got to Krakow and where my dad's cousins picked us up, and drove us 2.5 hours to their small farm town. my dad hasn't seen these relatives in about 30 years, and his polish is about as minimal as it was then, and mine and my moms is non-existant. They insisted that we stay at their house, and gave up beds and rooms for us, and were constantly feeding us. I met so many cousins and relatives, unfortunatly and older cousin victoria (about 80 years old) had just died a week before we got there, but some family that lives further was still around, so that was a chance to meet more people. we went to churches and mountains and farms, it was so sureal, i can imagine my self growing up there though, and am just so lucky for everything i have. after that we went back to the city and went to aushwitz, which was , wow. in vienna i got in a fight with this big irish guy (a friend's dad)= whjo thinks that no one our age should see it because it's too much pain and guilt, we should remember but not see it...so i argued that in the states we don't see wwar in our back yard so we need to see the painful remains to understand, and history reüpeats itself if we don't learn from the past...etc. etc...after being there i stand by that point 200 times more.. and you guys know my mom, so the rest of the trip she was like...just think, we are walking down the same streets polish people and jews wealked before they were killed, wow i can't believe it...abvout every hour she would say that..... ah, parents. we traveled a day in the mountains, and to praha and munich, where, today, i saw my parents off (like a prom dress) back to the states.. i leave tonight for paris, a few days there, then down to Bilbao, madrid, barcelona through geneva and back to vienna to meet up with jill and book it to italy. all is well except last night i accidently reformatted my digital camera and lost all of the 250 pictures i had from the trip this far, it was sad..but then my mom reminded me.."lylee, you are alive and not in a nazi camp" which is true, so it's all good.. hope everyone is well...eat some ted drews (tasti delight) for me!!
