I suppose most of you have heard about the article featured in the Baltimore Sun about the high STD spread rates in Carroll County between teenagers. The article purports that this high spread rate is due to what they dubbed "sex parties". This is an article in response to that one.

(WJZ/AP) Carroll County, Maryland A high school principal in rural northern Carroll County said she would investigate reports of sex parties involving students and possibly recent graduates.

Kim Dolch, principal of North Carroll High School, said Wednesday that the school would look into the matter. Det. Sgt. Charles Moore with the state police barracks in Westminster said Thursday that police were not involved in any
investigation.

Health and school officials told The Baltimore Examiner this week that middle and high school students in Carroll were participating in sex games that sometimes involved up to 30 people.

Cindy Marucci-Bosley, manager of the Carroll County Family Planning Clinic, said she got wind of the parties from girls who requested emergency contraception. Demand for such contraceptives has skyrocketed this year -- particularly among girls from the northern part of the county, she said.

"There are days when seven or so teens come for emergency contraception and all come from the same high school or middle school," Marucci-Bosley said. "There's a huge number of 16- and 17-year-olds who say they've had 30 or 40 partners."

Carroll County Schools Superintendent Charles Ecker said he was shocked by the news of the parties and would continue to recommend expanding middle school health classes to include lessons about birth control and sexually transmitted diseases.

The school board has mandated that the middle school curriculum include only abstinence education.

Carey Gaddis, a spokeswoman for the school system, said Thursday that school leaders can only do so much to curb the apparent increase in dangerous sexual activity among local teens.

"As a school system, we're very concerned about this, but this is a community issue and a parent issue," she said.

So about these sex parties... um where are they? Because, as a teenager growing up in Carroll County... I never knew about them. I was never invited and I certainly never heard any gossip about them. If something this interested was really happening in any frequency here EVERYONE would already know about it. Was I just out of the loop or what? I'm especially suprised that these existed without my knowledge. I would like to think that I would be the kind of person invited to them... After all I have been dubbed by a few as "kinky as fuck". Which I think is not such a surprising or absurd title.

The only sex party I think I EVER heard about was Mary Dwyars lesbian sex orgy where they sold tickets to guys to watch. But that was years ago... why wasn't it covered then?

Sometimes I think that both the media and parents imagine these things because they feel the need to look for drama. They need to make drama because here in Carroll County we don't have any. Parents moved here to raise their kids in a safe place that would foster their education. They moved here because it's quite and has great schools. Now that they're here all the seem to do is bitch about how BAD it is. Okay if carroll county has such an extreme heroin problem and all the kids are acquiring VD and there are bomb threats and shit than MOVE TO FUCKING BALTIMORE CITY. Maybe your snively little kids will be better off there. If you don't think so than just accept that Carroll County is a growing bedroom community and these problems are logical evidence of this. It's still better than the ghetto so shut the fuck up.

AND another thing. What's this bullshit about "abstinence education"? I thought we already had a health curriculum that pushed abstinence as the best way to avoid diseases and babies. Way to stick your head in the sand parents! Way to ignore a really important issue the your children will have to face everyday! Here is something you all need to accept:

KIDS ARE NEVER GOING TO STOP HAVING SEX.

Okay there it is. This is a fact. You had sex when you were 15 and so are we. Are you really all that surprised? Is it that much of a shocker?

A curriculum that pushes abstinence is just breeding ignorance! It will just cause more problems. It would be better to say "buy a condom... go get checked for VD". It would be better for parents to help their kids get birthcontrol and take them to the doctor to be checked for diseases. Otherwise it just leaves inexperienced teenagers wide open and susceptable to these sort of setbacks.

Yeah as a parent you don't want to accept that your little babies are sexual beings with urges to breed. No they aren't ready. No body is when they first have sex. But it's better to be open and honest with yourselves and your kids. Do the best for them by acknowledging these issues and helping them through them like a real adult. Don't just live in denial and think for one second that you not buying them condoms is gonna stop them from fucking. Cause they will be and they are. Accept that and do the right think and realize it. Do the right thing and know that you no control in this issue so you should just accept that and try to help them in the right perameters.
