Percy Jackson talk

This should teach me not to watch a film "based" on a book that I read. Man, it was so different, I was very pissed. To make matters worse, the only version they were playing was dubbed in Spanish, so it was this "neutral" Spanish, which I hate.

Anyways, I'll just include a kinda cute banner here and go on to ramble about the movie under cut.

Like I said, I was already pissed because I'd have to watch the whole film in Spanish and that sucks. I love my mother tongue (I really do, it's a fascinating language) but once the movie is dubbed it loses a lot and the acting just goes away. Besides, they always choose the worse people to make the voice. Agh I hated it.
They butchered the book from the very first scene. Gods are not supposed to show themselves in public and if two gods want to have a reunion, don't you think they would do it in Mount Olympus? DUH!
Basically, what they did was to keep names. There wasn't a single character that resembled the ones in the book. And I'm not saying they didn't go with the picture I made in my mind, they didn't respect the description made in the book. If you want to change facts, go right ahead, but is it so hard to make a character coward, another kinda tomboy and another aggressive? It isn't that hard, you don't even need special effects for that.

On the bright side, I think if I hadn't read the books I would have enjoyed the movie quite a lot. It has a lot of action and there are some amazing special effects and Grover brings a little of humour to the film. I'm just sad that they show us something in the trailer that had some similarities to the book and then they took all those scenes out of the final product.
The cast was pretty good. I liked most of the choices (I wasn't sure of how they would work out, but after seeing the film I was a bit satisfied), especially Medusa. Uma Thurman was great and I think that with her voice, it would have been 10 times better.
I also liked Brandon T. Jackson and, although he wasn't playing the Grover in the books, he made a great new Grover and made the "adaptation" bearable to me.
Logan was okay. I love him, as the gorgeous human being he is but as an actor too, but I think he didn't do that well in this film. I didn't buy his character sometimes but I still enjoyed watching him
Kevin McKidd was great! I really liked him and if anyone is reading this: did he keep his cute accent or did he speak with an American one? He played a more loving Poseidon than I had imagined but I still liked him. I wish he was more on screen but well.

What worries me is that people may not want to read the book after seeing this film, and the books are SOOOOOO much better and basically made of win. The film not so much.
I really hope they make things right if they make a Sea of Monster film.
If you have seen the movie, please make some time and read the books. I don't think you will be disappointed.
