Challenge in a can: Aquaman

Nov 14, 2010 22:14

Hello my dear old LJ. I see the cobwebs in the corner. Seems like forever, right? And it has only been a year or so.

It's been that long since I had the compulsion to actually publish something I wrote (and I haven't been writing much lately). This is something very short that I wrote very quickly based on my Challenge in a Can. My words were: Aquaman - Scorched - LuthorCorp. And this was what I came up with.

Title: Like an Aquaman on fire
Rating: G
Word Count: 369
Summary: For Challenge in a Can, words: Aquaman - Scorched - LuthorCorp.
Warnings: Unbeta'ed.

There were plenty of things that Aquaman didn't like. He didn't like fishing, he didn't like Japanese food, he didn't like when Victor hogged the Playstation or when Bart ate all of the pizza. He also didn't like walking in on Chloe and Oliver making out on the couch (and that seemed to be happening more and more these days).

But there were two things that he really didn't like. Fire and LuthorCorp.

Actually, it wasn't really LuthorCorp, it was a 33.1 lab, which would make it LexCorp, right? It didn't matter, though. What mattered was that he was trapped inside a 33.1 lab on fire and he had lost all communication to Watchtower and everyone else.

Being this close to the fire wasn't doing him any good either. Water was evaporating and that made him sicker than the smoke. (Seriously, what kind of operation is Lex running? No sprinklers, no fire extinguishers! And where was everybody? Someone should have missed him by now!)

"Hey Aquaman, heads up!" He would never admit to being happy about hearing Bart's voice, specially not after what happened after Bart's warning. Just then A.C. felt a strong jet of water hitting him squarely on the face, cooling him down and making him feel stronger already. The hose, A.C. noticed when the jet stopped aiming directly at his face, came from another room and would have been impossible for him to reach on his own. "You okay there, man?" Impulse asked, approaching him now that the fire was mostly out. Not waiting for an answer, he gave A.C. his communicator and added "Here, talk to her. She's been crazy worried about you."

There wasn't a need for clarification as to who "she" was, so Aquaman put the device in his ear and greeted. "Hey 'Tower."

"Finally! Are you okay, Aquaman?" The answer came instantly and was followed by a sigh of relief.

"Yeah. Just a little scorched. Ready to go home if you are."

"Come on, then. I'll have a veggie pizza waiting for you. Watchtower out."

There were plenty of things that A.C. liked, but coming home after a (nearly) successful mission with his friends to free pizza was one of his favorites. (And just because, he was sending Lex a brochure on fire safety.)
