My support
I've been reading various posts on daily_deviant's colossal fuck up with the word miscegenation, and I just want to clarify my stance if it's not already clear: I am in full support of witchqueen and the way she calmly and firmly handled the matter at hand.
And I say this as the product of an interracial relationship.
I don't speak on race much in this journal because it's a very personal thing that I deal with so much in my real life already. Sometimes I think this is doing me a disservice to not speak out on such matters as it pertains to fandom, but fandom *is mostly* where I go to escape real life madness. I realize that fandom has lots of issues in addition to racism and is in no way a utopia state, but come the fuck on, fandom. This is my, and other non-whites, reality. You don't get to sweep it under a rug just because it inconveniences you. To do so would then inconvenience me and I'm just as much a part of fandom as white fans. I'm not leaving, so learn to co-exist.
