ummm, i got a car.
i actually have another car! Its also a little too nice for me, i'm used to roughed up cars. i don't need a nicer one! So this is weird but very cool. I needed a new car for Michigan because basically I would really be pushing my luck with the CRX, if not just asking for trouble! I dont' know that a 16 year old car with failing heating and a/c systems could handle Michigan.
i was going to buy a 2 door coupe- Chevy Cavalier. for $8000 out the door with only 30,000 miles. Not a dream car but good enough for me since i want a reliable car that will last at least 4 years no problem without debt. My dad said that car was fine, but we should keep looking and come back after the weekend. So i did internet research and decided the car was good enough for me.
INSTEAD, my dad calls me at home around 4pm saying he was glad i was home and that i needed to stay home- he bought a car with house loan money and i would take a loan to repay him and start paying off the car as of tuesday. I nearly had a heartattack- what if i didn't like the car etc etc etc! We had talked about the colors and cars models and basic necessities in the car so i knew he couldnt' be way off...but still what if what if what if. When i asked my dad what kind of a car he said "just be patient, keep you pants on!" and soon after a man in the background says "hey! be excited! just come sign the papers!!" so i was nervous as hell. i was really worried about price since i have to pay for this whole thing and my job outlook is a but unsure.
He comes home- people, i have a nice car. too nice, now i'm paranoid about it being stolen or hit or etc etc etc! nice for me at least. Its a silver Honda Civic two door (not the little ones that are like the crx....the bigger civics that are like a small accord). it has a radio!!! and its a 5 speed, and it has power everything....which i did not need or even want but now have! AND the craziest part, it has a sun roof!! No tears in the seats, one scratch on the outside, it hardly feels like a used car to me!
my dad bought it without my permission because he knew if i saw it i would have said no but that if he went ahead and got it and it was in the driveway i wouldn't be able to say no. So now i have a car that seems way too nice for me!
the coolest part is, my dad said he will split difference in excess price since i gave him a ball park and expected him to call me first, but instead he went over the price and without my permission....and its my money! He is cosigning the ownership papers and loans as secondary owner because otherwise the bank won't give me the loan. they have to have a back up if i don't make it since this is my first car loan.
and....its way nicer than the crx or my plymouth (both of which i LOVE....but aren't quite the same ballpark as this new car) and it still gets 40mph...which is better than the other cars i was looking at.
