Especially since his instinct was clearly to get involved in the fray (since he was barking and growling), it's pretty exceptional that he stayed.

It was pretty funny watching him bark and growl while lying on the ground. His hackles were up and everything. I could see the amount of effort it was taking him to not get up. It looked like his head was going to explode.
