Boy boys boys.

So, tonight I went to the theatre to watch the play and then tear apart the stage.  (Remember last entry I mentioned getting out of a final by tearing apart a stage?)

The play was... really moving.  It was nice, very touching.  About crime in the projects and stereotypes against that.  I teared up a few times.  Though, some of that was the woman sitting beside me had practically showered in perfume and it stunk.  It was strong and nasty.

But after the play, I kind of awkwardly hovered because I didn't know who the stage manager was or where I was meant to go or what I was to do.  I saw another girl had come in and was awkwardly hovering, so I went to her and she was very nice.  Introduced herself as Sarah and said that she was there to tear things down, too.  So we hovered awkwardly together, and then went to the stage.

We met a boy who we found out was also in our class, and he introduced himself as Tyler and then all three of us stood uselessly.  We chit-chatted.  They loaded a trolley up with doors and sent two stagehands with it, and Sarah grabbed the third spot to help.  Then they loaded (and hoshit did they pile the pieces on) another trolley.  Tyler and I somehow got stuck with it, except nobody told us where we were taking it.  We went outside and shivered in the cold, and then ran across the street (more like skipped and stumbled alongside the trolley).  And then stopped and laughed and didn't know what to do.

He stood with the trolley and I ran back to ask directions.  A bunch of the actors were outside the stagedoor and one asked if I needed anything very kindly.  I explained we had no idea what to do, and she laughed and said it was just like him to send the volunteers out without direction.  She and one of the actors walked with me back to Tyler, and helped push the trolley while talking to us.  The actor was to my right, the actress to my left, and they were adorably chatty and sweet.  The guy asked how I liked the play, and I said I thought it was beautifully done.  He looked at me and said "You cry?"

"A few times, yeah, I got teary."

"Mm.  You have that look about you, a sensitive type.  Real bright eyes.  Either you cry a lot, or you have allergies."

I laughed, and he remarked I was probably an Austen fan, too.  I told him I wasn't a fangirl, but I enjoyed her well enough, and that I also liked Bruno Mars (he'd been talking earlier about just getting the CD).  When we finally got to the storage, as we were unloading the trolley, he asked something but I didn't hear.  A moment later he chuckled and said no matter, it was rhetorical.  So I asked what he'd said.

"Asked if you two were dating."

"What?  Us - no, no.  We just met, actually.  We're in class together, apparently."

"Ah.  Huh."

The actors remained behind to finish loading the stuff away and sent us off with the trolley to finish working.  We got back and Sarah was there with another trolley, so this time the three of us went with it.  We took a different route to the storage room, and along the way I almost was squished by two trolleys.  Tyler laughed and said "Good thing you're so skinny."

When we made our way back, I walked and talked with Sarah.  She was super friendly, and we clicked amazingly.  At the theatre, there was a sign-in sheet for us to get credit, and we made sure to sign.  From hanging out in the storage room the five of us had bonded, apparently, and we all made sure everyone signed and then had some nice farewells.  I told Sarah and Tyler I hoped I'd see them in class Monday (it's a 70 person class, nobody knows anyone else) and went my separate way.

I didn't make it more than a dozen steps before Tyler called my name.  "You going to be okay walking back by yourself?"

I smiled and waved him off.  "I'll be fine, but thanks for the offer."

He waved and left.  Not long after I got home, I saw a message on my phone.  "Colin Tyler" requested to be my friend.  A few minutes after I accepted, he posted a hello on my wall. ... I never told him my last name. :>  He must have looked at the sign-in sheet after I signed and memorized my name, then went and looked for me on facebook.

I'm still smiling.  It's nice to have guys notice you, you know?  I've always been the wallflower, the plain Jane, the nobody.  It's... fun.  To have guys actually see me.

why yes i am a girl, joy, boys
