There's this guy among our union leadership (which includes myself) who keeps wanting the union to do things but then pretend that we weren't behind them so as not to anger people who aren't members. The problem is that a union's entire existence depends on having members, and we need to emphasize all the good stuff we do so that people will be motivated to join. Right now our membership rate is at the extremely sad and sorry figure of 38%. Anyway, we were having big e-mail fights yesterday over how to characterize our actions in a flier we're distributing to employees, and I almost marched down to his floor and smacked him upside the head.
Might I add that this guy is a big fat blob who doesn't do much besides sitting there writing his opinionated e-mails while the rest of us do the actual work of the union.
