weekend update...
several of us from work and former coworkers got together and camped here. We had record highs. Who the fuck thought October in FL was prime camping time? I forget who said it and now they won't admit it, but someone said 'well, we need to camp by October while the weather is still good'. Freakin' amateurs! Prime Camping weather in FL runs from about November to early April. Anyway, it was bloody hot! But we had electric and our trusty old oscillating fan. Oh, and we had a black bear go through one of our buddies' campsites. Idjit didn't think they'd get into their cooler. Doh!
Sunday night I went to see Sister Hazel at the house of blues. It's like a hometown show for them. My first time seeing them other than as an opener at Gator Growl. They were very good. Very stripped down. Very southern rock/bluesy. The lead guitarist was very good. The bass player had his kids side stage and his little girl kept popping out and dancing for us. She started off one song for them too. A friend of the band got called up on stage as thanks for a charity event he organized...but it was all a ruse to propose to his girlfriend. Awwwwwwwwwwww. Having seen PJ play so many times, it was funny/refreshing to see a band come out and not switch guitars every song. I think the lead guitarist played all of two different guitars. Anyway, they're nothing heavy or anything, but pick up their latest, Absolutely, it's not bad and the last song, Everything Else Disappears is very well-written and beautiful.
