Writer's Block: Home is...

that's easy...home is Florida.  I've always lived here save for one year in north georgia.  But beyond that, I feel a pretty deep connection to the caribbean.  My dad and his kin have lived in the caribbean ( Bahamas, FL, Haiti, one branch of the family tree were thrown out of Haiti in the mid 1800s) for 300+ years.  I'm a first generation american yet my family has been in the new world longer than anyone except for the natives, but even they are no longer around.  No more Timucuans or Calusas here.  Seminoles don't really count, they're not a whole lot different than the rest of the crowds that have come here for the past few hundred years.

Anyway, I live in the middle of the state now and I admit that I miss living on the coast.  I miss air that you can taste! that metallic briny taste that is the evening air on a warm summer night on the atlantic coast.  Oh, and I like humidity.  I could live on an island.  As long as I have a laptop of course.  and rum, lots of rum.

Ahoy matey!

writer's block, home
