It's Premiere Week!

Sep 24, 2007 19:20

So, this year, all of the networks are dropping all of their premieres in the last week of September.  I guess it's... convenient?  Why get invested in a new show that started a week before your old favorite in the same timeslot? Ah well, starting later means a few less reruns in the long run.  So, here's a rundown of the main stuff on my schedule:

Monday
Chuck, 8pm, NBC: I've heard good things about this show, and am taping it, but it's up against Dancing with the Stars, which will absolutely murder it in the ratings, most likely.  A Circuit City/Best Buy employee getting his brain filled with government secrets and employed as a secret agent is kind of a reverse Jake 2.0 (which was more of a Bionic Man thing), so it sounds goofy, but it could be charming.  But again, up against Dancing, the odds it'll get far aren't good.

Heroes, 9pm NBC: Duh!

Tuesday
Scheduling conflicts at 9 o'clock!  Eureka's only a few episodes away from its season finale, and it re-airs after Midnight anyway.  Sure, everyone's watching House, but I've never been much of a House devotee.  I'll watch it if it's on, but my schedule doesn't revolve around it.  The new show on the CW, Reaper, looks like another neat genre show that won't last long.  But I'll watch it anyway!  Another sinking ship!

Wednesday
Bionic Woman, 9pm NBC: I'm actually kind of iffy about investing time in this, and I can't figure out why.  I haven't heard much, good or bad about the show.  But hey, Starbuck shows up in the pilot to kick some ass

Thursday
Ugly Betty, 8pm, ABC: Great soapy comedy! I wonder why I thought every gay stereotype joke on Will & Grace was unfunny and obnoxious, but Ugly Betty has jokes that are ten times as stereotypical, and it's hilarious!  Better writing does wonders, I guess!

30 Rock, 8:30, NBC: It actually doesn't start until next week, with the hour premieres of Earl and the Office this week.  Talk about betting on the wrong horse.  Last year, the Studio 60 pilot was neat!  The 30 Rock pilot was... not.  So, I watched Studio 60, and ignored 30 Rock for most of the season.  I think everyone knows how Studio 60 turned out (Fie on ye, Aaron Sorkin, fie on ye!).  And then 30 Rock somehow turned into a hilarious absurd comedy that wasn't hinted at in the pilot!  I was gypped!  I mean, who wouldn't love a comedy with a dream sequence about Thomas Jefferson appearing on Maury, and then a crazy cheap movie trailer inspired by that dream!

Friday
Doctor Who, 8pm, Scifi: Like Eureka, this is winding down its season, and it's in the middle of its season ending arc no less, so I wouldn't recommend anyone just jump in now, but I'd definitely recommend watching the new series to anyone.

Stargate: Atlantis, 10pm, Scifi:  Due to Scifi's stupid scheduling last year, Stargate premieres along with everything else, instead of the summer.  I hate these people.  They rope me in with shows, then do stupid things that'll kill ratings, and I hate them and then they rope me in again! Growing up with Star Trek has given me an addiction to special-effects laden space opera.  If they cancel this, I don't know what I'll do with myself. :(

The Soup, 10pm, E!: This is on all the time, but I'm putting it here to pimp the Soup.  It's hilarious! Everyone should be watching it.  And it comes on like half a dozen times over the weekend, so there's plenty of times to catch it.

Sunday
Desperate Housewives, 9pm, ABC: I know, I know.  Actually, this show lost me for most of season 2 and season 3, but I watched the last few episodes of the season as it was getting good again.  Spoilers for the new season leave me iffy, but I'll give it a chance.

Brothers and Sisters, 10pm, ABC: I totally ignored this show last year! But then I watched the recap show last night (which was totally cooler than the recap show for DH), and it actually looks like a decent show.  I'll give it a shot.

Hm, apparently, NBC Universal owns most of my viewing time, with all the stuff on NBC and Scifi.  Crap. I should be getting paid for this.  :P
