all my bags are packed....
so today is an interesting day,
a happy day,
a good day,
a sad day in some ways.....
i am returning to buffalo.......returning to family, friends, a new paid for house, and well to a city that i think i actually kind of love.....
while i will miss the people i have met in new orleans( well most of them)......and i will miss the food (some of it), and i will miss some of the eccentricities (some of it not much of it)..and the ability to walk just about everywhere...i cannot wait to be home......because i will not miss the crazy neighbors, the apartment, the insane drivers, the humidity, the bugs, the insane amount of time spent working to afford simply living down here, the never ending use of Katrina as an excuse for absolutely everything and most of all i will not miss the sirens that are a constant or the threat of evacuating for at least four months of the year.......
while i realize that the grass is not always greener on the otherside, and very well might be a shade of brown, at least i will be able to see my family when i want, enjoy the change in seasons, enjoy friends, enjoy ice skating and ice hockey and a host of other wonderful things that buffalo brings....don't get me wrong i know buffalo has its share of problems but at this point in the game i welcome buffalo and its idiocyncacities.(yes i know i spelled it wrong) i welcome it, and am glad to say good bye to new orleans as a home and place it on the vacation list.......
for those of you i love, and who might still read this....jay and i anticipate being home by saturday night or sunday morning/midafternoon at the latest.....so we should get together and start creating some new memories huh? and i think some of you still need to meet the man that i love and have been committed to for the past three years......
