How My MC Is a Crabby Version of Me

"She also hated winter. She avoided saying the word, so sharp and laden as it was. It was bleak, unforgiving. The very nearness of it caused all plants and some animals to wither away to brown nothings months, weeks, beforehand. And then it fell upon the land like a curse, overriding the lukewarm air and penetrating the clouds with its frosty fury ( Read more... )

wow, great writing! and that is how i feel about winter. i'm really lucky that it's late in our city this year and its been surprisingly warm. last year around this time, I'm pretty sure it was freezing.

Thanks! I *do* love snow falling/hot chocolate/the holidays; it's the TEMPERATURE that gets me. Because I've grown up in an area where winter is, like, splinteringly cold (I'm pretty sure I just made that up), I'm seriously considering moving somewhere where it's warm all year round in the future, lol.

Great, great writing. But I had a hard time relating to your character. I LOVE Winter. Dancing in the rain is just my thing, I guess, lol. Or it could be that I've only ever lived in South Africa and Australia. Hot countries, with winters that wouldn't really count as winters in other places.

Yeah...living pretty much anywhere in the northern US is like temperature-suicide. I feel like it'd be so weird to live in a place where there's no snow/drastic change in scenery, but in mid-December I often would give ANYTHING for it.

Haha, I wrote it and was like..."Woah. That's *exactly* how I feel." I think I'm just nervous for this winter, because last year around this time, my creativity completely dried up until spring. Ugh.

Great description on winter...brrrr. Unfortunately, being in California I don't know what "Winter" is really like. The coldest it tends to get out here would be like 60, maybe 50 degrees. lol

Please keep posting teasers every so often! I read your snippet on Nano and liked it a lot.

Why thank you very much. That's so encouraging. I hit 21k last night and pretty much spazzed.
