In this age of Myspace, Facebook, Xanga, and LiveJournal. Suddenly I am exposed to everyone's beliefs.
This is mainly tiring, and mostly annoying because I hate modern politics.
It used to be that I thought that our generation was lazy about politics. But that's not it. we are just tired of politics as usual. We grew up with scandal after scandal. The only way for us to look at our political system and not get sick is mock it. Which is why we tune into the Daily Show and the Colbert Report. They also find this system absurd, and mock everyone equally.
Fox News (which hardly deserves to be called news) and CNN(which I never watch) have made politics into wrestling. Conservative, and Liberal mean the same as the names of wrestling factions on WWE. Some people support the undertaker and his acolytes, while others support the corporation. No real facts are involved, now its all feelings.
Feelings about non issues. Elections should not be about Gay Marriage (which is a Civil Rights Issues) or Abortion. It should be about Healthcare, Education, actually changing this country. I do support the end of the war in Iraq. Because I believe that violence can only bring pain and suffering.
I am just tired of the arguing, and devaluing of people by turning Liberal and Conservative in dirty words. We are all the same. To truly change things we need to see that.
Normally I don't like to label my beliefs. But I have been thinking about them. They are influenced by the punk tradition, with pacifism, socialism, and Christianity heavily influencing me.
In short, I hate politics. I hate how infects the church. We spend more time trying to make everyone else believe what we do. Then trying to do simply what Christ told us to. Love Everyone.
