graduation, what to say what to say. the speakers/speeches were so typical. the college had some guy who talking about god, the business school someone talking about business ethics, and the sfs, a woman talking about US foreign policy. the sfs speaker was actually really controversial, i think. i know that gtown, like most colleges, is pretty liberal but still i was shocked by how strongly she expressed her anti-bush, anti iraq war opinions. us graduate were looking at each other, like "i hope the audiance don't start a fight". yup yup. at the end, about 75% of the students stood up, with the rest looking obviously uncomfortable. then we just did the normal stuff, walk on stage, got hooded by the dean of our choice. pretty cool since college didn't have deans hooding them. we are special :)
i'm so so so sad right now and the sentiment totally took me by surprise. i was really looking to get the hell out of georgetown. as i went back to LXR (my dorm) after dinner in rosslyn after graduation, going back to gtown for the first time no longer a student but an alum, it hit me hard. very hard. eh, can't talk about it now. no time to write, to think, gotta pack and then off to china on tuesday. goodbye georgetown. hoya saxa.
