So it's been a while I guess since I last updated. Life has a strange way of changing so unexpectedly so there's been so much happening in my life lately I haven't really had the oppostunity to sit down and write an entry.
Exams have been and gone, I went to Singapore to see my Dad for a week and now I'm back.
I think a week away with my dad has changed me. it's strange to think that 7 days can change the way you see things. but it can. i'd spent 8 years of my life living in singapore, yet i never opened my eyes to see the people around me. i never noticed those men on their little bicycles selling ice-cream or the old lady selling candy.
I've started to listen to the used quite a bit lately. their stuff is so, what's the word for it, deep i gueess. it's so full of raw emotion. the lyrics just hit you, each word is so strong, so pithily written. there are 2 songs i've been listening to practically on repetition - let it bleed and blue and yellow. wow, what can i say. firstly, let it bleed...when i listen to it, i get this shiver up my spine, it's so haunting. and blue and yellow..it's almost positive, but not. I don't know why i never used to listen to the used, because their music is perhaps some of the most provocative stuff i've ever listened to.
The next 2 weeks are going to be so busy. tonight is tara's drinks thing then tomorrow is her farewell dinner. friday is hayley's 18th birthday dinner and celebration, saturday night is rachel's 18th party, monday and tuesday i have supps and it's millie's 18th then thursday is my 18th, friday anberlin and antiskeptic gig and then uni starts on monday! crazyness. include in that tara leaving on wednesday, rachel leaving just after that, caz leaving on friday and bec leaving the day before my birthday.
I think i have enough stuff to write a song now! oh i also got accepted into arts for next semester, so i'm going to be doing a bachelor of commerce and a bachelor or arts. it's so exciting! plus i might audition for the elder conservatorium to do a diploma of flute performance!
