So, I don't actually have a cold. My symptoms are all wrong according to the pamphlets in the Doctor's office. I don't have the flu either; again my symptoms are wrong. I either have strep throat or mono. The doctor did a rapid test thing-y for strep throat and it came back negative, but he still gave me the antibiotics to deal with it.
My trip to the doctor's office essentially went like this:
@ Reception
Me: "I want to see a nurse"
Reception lady: "ok"
I wait awhile as far away from other people as possible, which is about 5 feet.
@ Nurses room
Me: "I think I have strep throat"
The nurse takes my blood pressure, pulse, temperature, then looks at my throat and lymphs.
Nurse: "I agree, I'll send you to the doctor to get a strep test done"
@ Doctor's office
Wait a really long time next to some very sick people.
Inside office:
Me: "I think I have strep throat"
Doctor looks at my throat
Doctor: "I think so too. Here I'll do this rapid test for strep that takes five minutes"
He does and I wait outside.
I get called back inside.
Doctor: "So it was negative, but I still think you have strep. I will prescribe you antibiotics. Also you should get a blood test to check if it's mono."
Me: "Ok, and can I get the one to check on my anemia too."
Doctor: Ok
End Result: I lost three vials of blood today and got some antibiotics and a thermometer.
Also, why do all doctors tell me I might have some serious disease when it don't, it's rather frightening.
