Most corporations aren't publicly traded. Being incorporated is just a legal state. Basically, it just gives an organization certain rights and responsibilities. Mostly rights. Incorporating is usually just a way to separate a business/non-profit from it's owner, so that the owner isn't liable for the acts or debts of the organization. Imagine what an impact your company defaulting on its obligations would have on your boss if he was fiscally responsible for all its debts. A person could find themselves millions of dollars into debt. Individuals generally can't shoulder to burden a profitable business can.

On an interesting note, my MSCI textbook mentioned that getting an MBA usually degrades one's ethics. Most people have much broader values and stronger ethics before they enter a MBA program. It does make me wonder if corporate culture isn't really to blame, but rather the universities that provide the programs that are failing society. Before we blame the business elite, shouldn't we blame those that educated them. I've heard that a lot of the detrimental economic and social policies of the recent regime can be traced back to one professor.

Our educations shape who we are, and we shape the world. To me that implies that if you want to change the world you have to change how people are educated. It's increasingly important as the strength and solidarity of the family unit has declined. Children continue to spend less and less time with their parents. Parents can't teach their children what's important if they're never around. Now the job falls to educators. In Ontario now, most children go to both junior and senior kindergarten. Start at age 3 or 4. To me that seems kind of ridiculous, but in the GTA where most people's commute to work is over an hour long I understand. It just worries me. Can Teachers really be expected to take on a parent's role. No one should be held responsible for things they have no power over, but that's what we ask of teachers when parents don't spend enough time with their children.
