What Do You Have To Say? - Public Transit Nightmare

Nov 29, 2007 13:19

Having to walk 15 miles home, through Harlem and the Bronx, during the Northeastern blackout in 2002. Maybe this doesn't count because I wasn't technically using public transportation, but the trip was only a nightmare because I couldn't use the subway (no power to the electric rails = no service). I finally was able to squeeze onto an overcrowded bus for the last 3 miles or so of my trip. Lucky me.

Seriously though, the whole experience did make me realize that it's funny how much those of us who rely on public transportation hate it...until suddenly it's unavailable. Then it becomes a godsend.

life, writer's block, public transit
