Cool Evening in Vermont

Well, the Barnes and Noble cafe was packed again tonight. It's one of my favorite places to hangout, have a coffee, and write. It is exactly halfway between work and home. Which isn't a considerable distance by any means. About two miles as the mangy crow flies. I ordered a medium dark roast coffee and a pizza filled pretzel. They were brewing a new batch so I'd have to wait. The blond behind the counter informed me with a holiday smile. She had a roman nose and studied French at UVM. If she was going to hand me coffee, I could wait a while.

The storm yesterday threw everyone off. Some even literally as I watched ambulances rush up and down old I-89. It took me almost two hours to get from rehab to my place. A friend of mine at work totaled his car up in the islands. Thanks to airbags, he got through without a scratch. He told me that State Police refused to investigate because there were no injuries. Between songs on the radio, announcers spoke of the accidents, conditions and road closings.

Rehab has gone surprisingly well. What I thought was something torn or broken was actually just a muscle imbalance. So they gave me a bunch of exercises to do and some strength bands. Lightly dusted yellow, red, and green bands raising in difficulty in that order. My shoulder should be right as rain in a few more weeks. After, I plan to use the bands to launch snowballs.

I also wrapped up my two last scenes for Creative Writing class. The last class is this Thursday. Ready to go ahead of schedule. I might bring some sparkling wine to class, or save it for myself.

Some dude in glasses and big hair hands me the coffee. What happened to the blond? I look around and she's nowhere to be seen. Only the seats and tables of the cafe filled with writers, readers and tablet owners. Guess I'll head home and pound on the keys for a while.
