There has been a lot of side line soap-opera stuff going on lately that's not involving me directly but I've been wanting to long and I haven't the strength or the time, or the heart to expose it to the innocent. Read on if you need to kill 10 minutes, otherwise go play solitaire or something ;)
It’s been nearly 3 months since Keri has had any work. It’s been a stressor to all of us but more so for Keri. She has felt “unproductive and useless” (her words, not mine) and any work would probably do wonders for her self-esteem. She can get work in Easley and/or Laurens but she really has her heart set on going back to Oncology at Regional. Her agency is playing games with her by trying to break her into to taking a job they are having trouble filling. They do this a lot and I can understand why, but is it necessary to do it to the point where you loose additional business? Keri hasn’t helped the situation any with calling out a few times in the past. In the agency world there are no sick days. At this point, though the money would be less (but still more than the nothing we are getting now), I would like to see her go to work full-time for the hospital. At least that way we could have some insurance and job security. It never ceases to amaze me how catty women can get. The way the women involved with Keri’s agency behave would be hilarious if not for the fact that they are keeping her from earning a living. And of course Keri isn’t just going to let the cattiness end with them, as she has to get all catty too. And thus begins what my interpersonal communications class calls “The Negative Downward Spiral”. Keri has had trouble with agencies like this before and it just becomes a huge “she-said, he-said” with somebody crying before long. I honestly think her heart is in the right place with nursing, but I don’t believe her personality matches up well with the politics involved in the healthcare arena. She needs to be in control and if she’s not, she stresses out. Never is one more not in control than when dealing with a “system”. I would recommend a management position to her but it would ruin the home life not to mention she actually have even less control then than she does now.
The old oak tree that was damaged by the ice storm in December was finally cut down last week. This depresses me. It was one of the selling points of the house and now that it’s gone it has really changed the look of the property. The stump that’s left is almost completely hollow, which is pretty scary when you think about it. The tree could have easily fallen on the house and this was a very large tree. Somehow, I’ll have to come up with a way to salvage the yard. I need Bob Vila, that landscaping TV show guy, and/or the gang from Queer Eye to rescue me.
In the X dept, things seem to be holding in the stupid flight pattern. Gwen was supposed to be getting her own room at her mom’s but it doesn’t look like thered-neck idiot/drunk/pill head/gigolo boy friend who by the way is a “master carpenter”, is ever going to finish working on his mother’s house. This means all of his mother’s crap that’s at the X’s and his house will be there indefinitely, thoroughly screwing Gwen out of a bedroom (as well as the 2 unborn kids on the way). This is not by any means, the end of the world. I didn’t have my own room at my dad’s house until I was a teenager, but since these two geniuses like to fight constantly it would be nice for her to have a sanctuary away from the yelling matches. If anyone can tell me why a woman would stay with a guy who is 31 years old and still lives with his mom, has quite a few illegal bad habits, and a criminal record for wife beating as well as multiple DUIs, no job, attempts to sleep with any and every red-neck skank he can because: “he just turns them on so bad he don’t have no choice but to sleep with them” and is just basically a liar and not trustworthy…please let me know. All that comes to mind when I think about that whole situation is the song that’s played in the ending credits of the Jackass movie. “If you’re gonna’ be dumb, you gotta’ be tough” has never rang truer. I hope the X can take a punch because with several CDV’s in our master carpenter’s resume, she’ll do well to learn.
