On Wednesday I finally go into surgery. This will be my third visit in the past month to BWH.
While I am of course, reasonably nervous about undergoing major abdominal surgery, I still am feeling positive about it, for various reasons:
(1) Undergoing the surgery doesn't mean that I will be totally cured, but I at least will have relief for maybe up two a few years. As I've been helping to plant my parent's garden I've been thinking-- hey, by the time this is grown, I might be able to eat it! Woohoo!
(2) There are worse places to be during the lousy weather we've been having this summer. (Today excluded.)
(3) I've begun to make friends with all the staff on the hospital floor I was on, and they've made it pretty clear they like having me as a patient.
(4) There's a chance I might be able to swing a private room again.
The only downside is of course, the boredom. So, for all of you who have asked me what you can do for me, I have an idea. If you happen to have a spare moment this weekend, make me an mp3 mix I can put on my ipod and email it to my gmail account or send it to my parents address on a CD. (Email me at ilizzie@mac.com to get the gmail account or my parents address if you need them) . I love mixes. I still have some that friends made for me in highschool. It's how I learned about some of my favorite bands like Men Without Hats and the Magnetic Fields. Mixes are fun, eccelectic and will keep me entertained while I either walk in circles around the hospital floor or pursue my new hobby of embroidery. Heck, if you send me a mix, I'll embroider you something! Deal?
