Hi Ross,

Since you were so quiet on the phone, I thought I would write you this letter and hope that I get a chance to post it soon. Daddy and I miss you so much. You are a brave boy to let your parents leave for such a long time. And you must have an extra big heart to be willing and eager to share the love of your parents. I wish you were here right now but it will all be worth it in the end. I promise. Let me tell you about the kids. I’m going to use initials because this message is on the Internet so, we will use code. I know that you are smart enough to break this code.

The oldest boy “I” is a very happy clever boy who is 7 with brown hair like you but with light brown eyes. He likes to build stuff and we are sure that you and he will have hours and hours of fun in Lego land. He has been trying to teach Daddy and I some useful Polish. He will give us a “Dobsha High Five” when we say stuff correctly. The lawyer finally explained about you the other day. We left a photo book with many pictures of you out in the hotel room and the kids during the day will look at it. He told Daddy that “Brat Ross” was his “drugi Brat” meaning second brother. The place where the kids live does not have many older children like yourself, so you will be pretty interesting to him. “I” likes very much the stuffed dog you gave him and guess what? He named him Patrick. Daddy told him that it was your middle name.

“D” is a five-year-old girl and in many ways reminds Daddy and I of Anna P, the daughter of Chet P. She just loves, loves the pony you gave to her. The Sisters who run the orphanage wanted to make sure that we were up to taking care of these children. So we have the for 2 days, right now they are in the other room sleeping. We had them last night and tonight. Too bad the Sisters couldn’t ask you about whether you think we do a good job as Parents. I hope that you would tell them good stuff. Anyway “D” sleeps with your present and plays with him a lot. For a guy who is not even ten yet, you know more about women than most grown-up guys. And guess what, she likes to build houses and stables and stuff like that. So Lego land will have many builders. She has big grey eyes and wispy blonde hair.

“M” is the three year old boy that looks a little like your cousin Zander. He is blonde like Zander with eyes the sometimes look green and sometimes look grey. Like Zander, he does not let being the littlest boy keep him from trying to do most of what his brother and sister are doing. He is a very little guy but man can he run. And when he falls, he doesn’t make any complaint at all. When we don’t understand his Polish, he yells what he just said to us louder. I keep saying to him (which of course he does not understand yet), “I’m not deaf, I just don’t understand Polish.” Despite the language barrier, he is very good at getting what he needs.

Anyway these kids need parents and they need a big brother. Daddy and I know that you will do an awesome job being the “druzy brat” = Big Brother.

We are so proud of you and miss you terribly. When we get home, I’m going to smooch you up big time, so you better be ready. Also expect and tons of hugs. Only after that can you and Daddy run around like nut bags and have wrestle-manias. I can’t wait to see you again.

Love,

Mummy
