It wasn't a very good day for Dick. First he met up with some creepy, crazy woman in... well, an
insane asylum. Then he got into a
little fight with a guy he'd teamed up with a few times and he was pretty sure the fight was going to continue tomorrow.
Dick wasn't sure exactly what kind of gear Roy had, but he was assuming that if he'd actually split with Green Arrow, he'd have his weapons somewhere handy. He couldn't just leave them at a mansion like Dick did with his Robin gear. And if Roy had his bow and arrows, Dick was screwed. Speedy was, bar none, one of the best archers in the world. Even if Roy was off his game thanks to his drugs, Dick would still be at a disadvantage.
That's why he made a phone call.
"Hey, Alfred? I need a favor. I need my work clothes first thing tomorrow. Maybe some tools, too. The really good ones.... Things are weird here again.... Somebody needs my help, and he's getting it one way or another... Thanks a lot, Alfred. I'll meet you at the airport first thing in the morning.... You too. Oh, and if you see him tonight, please tell Bruce thanks for me.... For being a good father.... Thanks, I'll see you tomorrow."
Bruce wasn't perfect, but there would never be a situation where he'd let Dick become a junkie in some alley. Bruce would administer a special kind of detox called 'being Batman.' A thanks was the least he could do for Bruce right now.
[OOC: Establishy. That Dick made a late-night phone call is fine for broadcast. The contents of it should be NFB, please.
Oh, and I feel it worth noting that thanks to complete guesswork and possibly off-base assumptions by me and
exspeedydotcom, the Batman & Robin and Green Arrow & Speedy pairs have likely teamed up a few times pre-B:TAS canon based on certain similarities and presumed ages. Batman certainly would have figured out their identities while Green Arrow is clever enough that he could have figured it out somehow that I'm not going to try to explain. Therefore, Dick and Roy know each others' identities without the benefit of the Titans. Huzzah, closed pre-canon guessing!]
