I was hired to create the cover art for 2 books in a new series last month, which is part of the reason I haven't been able to work on all the projects that I want to right now. Since I've been doing all this drawing however, I decided to take some of that time to at least sketch out a picture that I've been wanting to do for months and months. The

Isn't it though?!! I'm so excited about this picture, and I just want to work on it all the time until it's done. It has the promise of being just beautiful.

From a purely critique point of view -- Hatter's chin/profile might need some work, UNLESS he's meant to be biting his lower lip. OTOH, Alice's feet are PERFECTION, and I've taken ballroom dance classes, so I can tell you that for sure. Body position is excellent. It's very dynamic as well. I can't wait to see the final product.

You know, i didn't even notice that about his smile until you pointed it out. >.< Fixed now. I did tweak her one foot a bit as the bottom of the shoe did not look quite right, but I'm very pleased with picture overall. I did use stock images to help with the pose as I've never taken ballroom dancing myself and would not like this nearly as much if I'd just made something up.

I did a few other minor tweaks and detail additions (including adding the very simple background) so if you have a moment, I'd love any additional critiques you may have before I ink the illustration. Final line illustration. This piece is making me so happy that I'm not taking any risks of finding some annoying missed spot after I've inked it and have to live with the mistake. :P

My sister says I shouldn't give it the dance hall background that is in my fic, but I'm not making a decision until I sketch it out first. Hatter and Alice won't be changing from what you see here though. :)
