Visit to the 15th Century

My group has been invited to a Medieval event spaning 200 years (1380-1580) - easy to pick my impression as my group also is planning a mid 15th century encampment for other events.

SOOO mid 15th century it is.

Now I am going to cheat and use my linen regency chemise as the foundation garment as no one will see it in any case and there is at least ( Read more... )

There is actually another reference for a short sleeved chemise, mid-late 15th century flemish I believe. So yeah, not enough to really say "Hey, they did this! This is normal!" and more than enough evidence for long sleeves if you're making a new one, but if you have one lying round and aren't planning on going around bare armed then hey... for one event why not, because we can't say they didn't, they may have! lol. My group often elimate a layer of sleeve, we have our caimicia sleeve, and we have our outer sleeve, but if there should be a sleeve inbetween then we won't wear it if we don't want to and nobody ever knows ( ... )

Thanks so very much, I really appreciate the advice. The separate sleeve is definitely a great idea, just hope I have enough time to make a pair.

Can't wait too should be loads of fun.
