1850's start

I have just about finished my cage crinoline - all I have to do is find away to 'hold' the tape in place on the tubing.  I decided to replace the tape for the bottom 3 rings with a fabric strip (so as to stop my foot going through and tripping up) and it worked out great.  I will also need to get a waistcoat buckle.

Next (besides the irish dance costume) will be petticoats, except I am waiting for my sister to come over as we are sharing her fabric.

So tonight I am going to make a start on a short cape.  I am going to use a velvet I have in my stash that was given to me from my brother - off cuts of upholstery fabric, but this is quite a good size piece and should get a cape  out of it.  It probably is a poly/cotton blend but I need all of my money to get my silk!!!!  I will also have a look in my stash for some lining.  I am still debating if I put a hood on.
