let's backtrack a little. personally, i do not support abortion in the "i'm not ready for this" case after the first trimester. rape, incest, and threat to the mother's life are a different and very unfortunate set of special circumstances. i think BOTH sides of the abortion argument neglect to look at science and to make distinctions between a first trimester scrape and a partial-birth abortion. legally babies are not humans until they are born, which i suppose is why if a pregnant woman decides to drink coffee, smoke, or get drunk nobody can really stop her--but i disagree with that. the fetus starts to respond to external stimuli very early on in gestation, and i think 12 weeks is way more than enough time for someone to make up their mind. so no, i don't support the "chopping up of babies". but i do support a woman's right to choose early on in the pregnancy if this is something she can do or not. i especially support abortion--by a trained medical doctor, not a shaman or back-alley abortionisto--in third world countries, where the child, if born, will either be abandoned in a dumpster (china's baby girls), or will be raised in an orphanage with minimal human contact (romania's orphan babies), or will live to the age of 2 and die of starvation, with or without his/her parents around. that should really be the last option people make though. it would really HELP the pro-life movement if those same people would stop teaching abstinence-only education, and would start having condoms and other birth control readily available. condoms, birth control, and sex education also need to be made more available in third world countries.
people don't need to voluntarily off themselves (isn't that illegal anyway? how pro-life), but as a PLANET we need to stop having so many children per couple. even better, how about we start adopting more children? and allowing homosexual couples to adopt (i don't know about you, but i'd rather have two dads or two moms to love me and raise me than be neglected in an orphanage, or live a life of poverty in some city's outskirt slum)? how many children were adopted into pro-life families? and how many children were BORN into pro-life families?

now excuse me while i eat this fetus...
