I'm in line right now, waiting to register for GenCon SoCal (registration starts at 7am, so I stopped on my way from work to get it out of the way). This is my first time at a gaming convention so after my first Comicon, earlier this year, I'm already a little apprehensive of the crowd... and then I hear this exchange:
Two gamers standing behind me were discussing how long it will be until they open the doors. The first looks at his watch and said, "Three minutes." His friend checks his own watch and responds, "Or... now."
(The doors are still closed at this point.)
Gamer #1 shows his friend his watch, saying, "It's 6:57." Gamer #2 flashes his in turn with the retort, "No, it's 7am... mine's set to satellite time from space."
Dear lord, what am I in for?
*** UPDATE ***
The saggin' basketball shorts, the sideways caps, the wifebeaters -- if I didn't know better, I'd swear the guys ahead of me in this line were the Icy Hot Stuntaz... wow.
