Tuesdays with Mikey / The Lon O'Connor

I had a good morning and aftertoon (so far) with Mikey -- it's my one-or-twice-a-week day home with him. I took him out with me to get pastries and some flowers for Mommy. I cleaned a little and have meat sauce bubbling on the stove. I took Mikey for a walk around most of Somerset mall, just to get out and exercise and let me see some things. Happy homemaker stuff.

Tonight I curl in the Lon O'Connor semi-finals. The "Lon" is the Detroit Curling Clubs championship play-offs for its men's competitve league. I'm stoked about being two wins away from a club championship, which is pretty good considering this is my first year as a skip (team leader). It's the same team I go to bonspiels (tournaments) with, except with a different lead. If we win tonight, we play in the club championship on Saturday, in front of the whole club, as part of "Champagne Spiel," the season closing party.

I'm also in the semi-finals of the semi-competitive Thursday night open league, so if we win this Thursday, I'll be in two championship matches Saturday. I don't normally skip on Thursdays, but our skip is orthodox Jewish and can't curl on the sabbath, so I'd be skipping in that game too.
