Yes, he wants Spock to be happy, but the catch is he mainly wants Spock to be happy with him. The tone set here is great and has the build that could easy lead to the events of TMP. Thanks for sharing.

So many fic makes him either oblivious to Spock's logic, or they make him "oh well I just want what's best for you, Spock."
The ones I dislike are when they make it out to be all Kirk's fault, because he cheated on Spock or didn't appreciate him enough or whatever. Given how things play out in TMP, it's never rung true to me.
Anyway, thank you for the comment, and I'm glad you liked it.

Sorry I have been swamped by life and haven't been commenting, but whenever I emerge from hiding and see you've posted new TOS I always give a mental fist pump and rush to read.
And this is wrenching! Now I must dive back into your universe, read more of your stories to refresh my memories of how Spock and Kirk came together after Vger. There's something about your portrayal of their relationship that just strikes the right emotional note with me. Well done as always! Thanks for sharing your work with us. :)

The turn of the conversation is brilliant, with the lead up to Spock's saying 'potential mates' naturally bringing forth Kirk's confession--phrased just right, too.
Thanks, I'm glad you think so. I've been wanting to write a fic like this for a while.

No problem. :) I was glad to see you pop back up, though. I really enjoy your comments, you always say such nice things.
