Wanting Something More (Marty/Nathaniel)

This was the first of the series that I read, but actually the third in sequential order. Marty is the youngest Stepp sister. Like the others, she was teased and had a miserable childhood. She grows up to be a model in New York, but comes home after her sisters are married and her bf cheats again and she's had enough of the model world. She drives in, intending to stay at her family home since her sisters are living elsewhere. She runs into the sheriff, Nathaniel, who teased her alot and kissed her as a dare in school. He was actually an asshole as an adult too, but we find out he was brutally attacked in his home and hasn't been the same since. Not in a brain damaged kind of way, just less of an asshole and now a vegetarian who doesn't remember much about his previous life.
Marty is ok likable, as in Nathaniel. The chemistry is good as well. What sets this book apart is seeing that Nathaniel has really changed and how Marty starts to see it. I like the scenes where they bond. There is some humor. I also like that he sees the contradiction and is bothered by the fact that Marty stayed for years with a man who cheated on her, but wouldn't give Nathaniel a chance at a real relationship.

This book didn't hit me as personally as the other two, but it wasn't bad at all. A good wrap up to the series.
