This is what lives in the natural landscape of Rosamond, CA, at 40th St. West north of Rosamond Blvd., to be exact:
Those are Mojave Green rattlesnakes and the picture was taken by an Air Force Colonel. Most people out here have had a run-in with a Mojave Green at one point. I was terrified of them when I bought my first house, in a new construction area. I figured there were a lot of natural desert residents who were displaced by my neighborhood and might not be too happy about it.
Then I read a State of CA report that stated that nearly all rattlesnake bites happen to males between the ages of 18 and 25, usually while intoxicated. This tells me to stay the fuck away from Mojave Greens and they will stay away from you.
