I repeated my "pick a number between 1 and 20" experiment over in
antarcticlust's scientific salon
thelunarsociety. Here's
the raw data. This time around, with 34 responses, 17 came up 26.5% of the time out of 34 responses. Here's a pretty little graph of the distribution. In a perfect scenario, each number would occur 5% of the time.
In the comments on the poll, there was some discussion about the number 17, and
davidgallaher1 said he picked it because of St. Patrick's Day. I wonder if 17 popped in his head, and then St. Patrick's Day, and he settled on it for that reason, or if the cause and effect relationship was the reverse.
