I have lost my book reviewing edge lately. I got a little too obsessed with my reviewer rank (#364, fuck yeah!). I broke 1000, which took a year, and then broke 500 in no time at all. And now I don't care. At all.
I think I started focusing on reviewing new books and getting Spotlights too much. I started soliciting publishers for review copies. I was getting, easily, over ten books a month, in the mail.
I am moving tomorrow (really, later today). I have taken the following from my bookshelves, in an attempt to re-engage myself:
Richard Brautigan, A Confederate General From Big Sur
Richard Brautigan, The Abortion
John Irving, The Hotel New Hampshire
John Irving, The World According to Garp
John Irving, A Prayer for Owen Meany
Nancy Friday, Women on Top
Bill Bryson, In A Sunburned Country
Nicholson Baker, The Fermata
Diary of a Wombat
Francesa Lia Block, Weetzie Bat
Francesa Lia Block, The Hanged Man
I welcome any comfort books you recommend.
