So
this story on the BBC website is pissing me off. Blair states that "no justification for suicide bombing whether in Palestine, Iraq, in London, in Egypt, in Turkey, anywhere. In the United States of America, there is no justification for it. Period". Well, if you say so Tony. I think you know that there is quite a bit of justification for it, you might not agree with it, but there are a lot of good arguments. Mostly my complaint here is lumping suicide bombing anywhere else with suicide bombing in Palestine. Palestinian suicide bombing has quite a few decent arguments for it. Bear in mind that these arguments apply to the attacks upon military and police targets, I am not saying that attacks against civilian targets are ok. Suicide bombing is the way poor people fight wars. Them launching the same ordinance into a building with a rocket propelled grenade or a mortar would also be effective, but they seem to have a serious dearth of advanced weaponry. It is the only effective means of armed resistance at their disposal. Because they lack the ability to defend themselves, they must attract international attention. Suicide bombing does this like nothing else. Nobody cared about the plight of the Palestinians until Jews started dying. The military and police of Israel oppress the Palestinian citizens, but more than that the economic situation enforced by the Israeli power structure oppresses them. Ninety percent of the water that is drilled in Palestine goes to Israelis. Palestinians are dying of thirst while the Israelis in the nearby settlement swim in their pools. Something is wrong with that. I think part of the backlash against Palestine is obviously the civilian casualties, which as I said I dont support, but I also think that as the only super power on Earth right now, we cant possibly imagine ever being in a situation that desperate. Sigh, ah well.
