"....it's nothing more than an overpriced craft fair"

Apr 16, 2007 22:21

That was my usual response when asked about going to Scarborough Fair. I wound up going to TRF with some of The Usual Suspects (tm) and was promptly called on it by a certain someone. Call it fallout from being deployed, but I spent close to a year away from my friends and any excuse to spend time with them was good enough for me.

Although TRF was an excuse to get out of town and have a mini vacation (I did Johnson Space Center, Moody Gardens, and ate at The Aquarium resteraunt), the whole RenFair gig didn't suck as much as I thought it would. Well, Scarborough rolled around and once again The Usual Suspects (tm) put in an appearance, so under the aforementioned banner of spending time with friends, I decided to suck it up and go. UncleSiko of http://unclesiko.livejournal.com/ giving me a free ticket did sweeten the pot a bit.

I am glad I went, because it gave me a chance to drag out the camera. Because of the unseasonable weather, I'm betting people actually felt comfortable in all their finery. I have to admit, almost everyone I asked to pose for a picture did so gladly.

I'm not saying I'm into the whole RenFair thing now, or that I'm going to get an outfit, but...could you see me more as a Musketeer or a pirate?

At any rate, please enjoy the fruits of my labors
