Ok,it's been a week and here's where we're at:
Much calmer. Dee has been great about covering my ass. I worked two days with Juniper Street pushing boxes (YAY!) and making a killer day rate. The only down side was driving up to Wappinger Falls, which is an hour and a half away, and then driving back. We got horribly lost in New Jersey on our way back. Day two there was a great blizzard on our way up. Go VT driving!
I've sent out a ton of resumes. As always, was hoping not to do summerstock - but I guess I should look at as a chance to sew more and work on my people skills. If I don't apply for the union by Valentines Day someone needs to seriously kick my ass.
I've spent today making heating pads. Pictures soon to follow. If they look like something you would be interested in (good for cold nights and sore muscles!) just send me your address.
As for the dead job: yeah, I have a lot of thoughts about it. 1) They've buttered their bread, and I have no doubt that they are going to continue to have this same problem with these same people no matter who they hire to replace me. 2) If it's the kind of place where they would fire someone rather than try to solve a problem, and they give actors precedents over their crew I probably don't want to work there anyway. I can't imagine how the rest of the crew is going to react if and when they find out what happened. 3)The real reason this is so disappointing (other than the fact that I did nothing to deserve it) was that this was going to be my big break. I was finally going to make bank on fricken tour. I was finally going to get out of the country on someone else's dime. And I was finally going to play the A-list cities instead of always hitting the D-list towns. I really enjoyed working on the show.
But it has really shown me how supportive my friends and family are. Yes, something else will come along, and it will probably be fine, but I could really do with the 1.2 grand a week. It's made me think about what I really want to do with the rest of my life. I sure don't want to tour forever, do I want to do wardrobe? or am I more interested in sewing? . . . ve shall see.
