you know when you do something, and you know it's the right thing but you still feel bad about it? yeah, I'm there. I quit. After two days. And now I have to job search again.
They had no organization. They scheduled me for an interview, and didn't actually get to me for 45min. Day 1 of orientation they tried to turn us all into Borg. Day two they did register training, which I didn't need, and then turned us over to our managers. My manager couldn't be found for a solid twenty minutes. then they had me start to watch a training movie, and less then five minutes in kicked me out of the room because they had nabbed a shoplifter. twenty minutes later the shoplifter was taken care of, but they had forgotten about me, so I had to wait fro someone to tell me to finish watching the movie. Movie done, no managers in sight. Waiting, waiting, finally the boss manager comes in, takes the dvd away and points at the chair and tells me to "sit!". So I sit, in the interrogation room, for OVER half an hour - forgotten. I've been there since 9:45 in the morning, it is now pushing 4pm and I have had a 15 min break and a kind of 10 min break, I have not eaten ANYTHING all day. Finally one of the crew that I was introduced to pops his head in the door and asks if anyone has seen or talked to me. I tell him I watched the movie and then was told to sit here, and then I burst into tears. It still takes them ten minutes to round up a manager to finish my "training" (they quizzed me on the movie i watched almost an hour before and gave me a books worth of paperwork to read and memorize for tomorrow). They kept emphasizing over, and over to not be late, be early, don't be late. Hypocrites.
The company has a "Promote from within" policy, which is great! Good for them! But just because you are a good guard, doesn't mean you are manager material. If you know you have a new recruit coming in, you should have someone there ready to train them when they come up to your station. Their time is just as important as yours, and if you blow them off they aren't going to want to work for you.
So after hemming and hawwing and feeling like shit and really evaluating the whole situation (there is a whole other saga chapter involving dress code) I walked in four hours before I was due to work, asked for a manager (AND HAD TO WAIT AGAIN!), said "thanks for the opportunity" (he had no idea who I was), and quit.
And I really hope this doesn't bite me in the ass.
