alas! and OH THANK YOU JESUS!

Sunday evening I was going to drive to the corner market real quick.  I ran trudged out of the house and jumped lowered myself into my car.  It clicked rapidly.  It didn't start.  I was devastated.  "NOW WHAT", I think.  Crap, crap, crap... I am thinking, among other things I will not write down.  After several hours I am kicking myself for not being immediately thankful the car died in my driveway and not in Timbucktoo... (yeah, I know that isn't how to spell it).  So I pray.

Monday morning I start researching.  Yeah, I figure it's the battery.  I  have options.  I can walk to AutoZone and buy a new one for $75-ish dollars and drag ass trying to carry it home. (Not a good idea in this heat and in my old-age shape).  I can get a ride and pick one up (easier option, don't you agree???).  I can wait until Jack gets home and take his car to pick one up.  (Probably the easiest option, all things considered but requires a day of inaction).  Then I can try to change it myself.  Hmmm.  Or I can wait until Jack gets around to changing it.  Again, I say Hmmm.

I look for more options.  Try WalMart, they have cheap batteries.  Nearest store to me doesn't have Automotive Department.  Nearest one that does is not so near.

Still looking for options.  Big O Tires has been my 'go to' car service since I moved here.  They are just around the corner and I have walked there without collapsing.  I call them.  I whine to them.  They understand me.  Oh thank God.  They have a battery in stock.  Their price is only $5 more than AutoZone AND they will change it for me with no charge.  It's a no-brainer.  I just need to get the car there.

I have options.  I can wait until Jack gets home and jump the car.  Again, a whole day of waiting and you know, even if I don't go anywhere for days on end, I still have the ability to go if I want to, so being without is a pain.

Sigh... must be another option.

Megan called.  They're visiting her mom around the corner.  Steve will jump my car if I have cables.  YES!  of course I have cables.  How soon can you be here????

All is well... the car is running happily again.  I learned something new about car maintenance.  Did you know that car batteries only last 2-2.5 years in the hot climates?  Seems heat is worse than cold.  Well, now that I'm thinking about it, that makes sense.  Don't we store batteries in the 'fridge?

I need to go to the grocery.  I don't want to leave the house.  Why would I??? My car is running again and I can, so I don't want to.  lol... go figure.

car, learning
